Voz de Compromiso Award
PEDRO ZAMORA
(posthumous)
(accepted by his sister Milly Zamora)

Recognizing advocates in the fight against AIDS at Cielo Latino is one of the hallmarks of this annual event. Two separate awards – the Rosie Perez Fuerza Award and the Voz de Compromiso Award – have recognized twenty-four individuals over the last twelve years. Moving forward, these two awards have been combined as one. The Rosie Perez Fuerza Award will continue to honor the work of outstanding and outspoken individuals, who remain committed to support the Commission’s campaign against AIDS.

Innovator Award
MERCK

The innovator award was created to honor a medical breakthrough or innovative treatment which demonstrates a long term commitment to advancing the quality of life for People with AIDS and serves as an incentive for commencing treatment earlier after learning of HIV positive status. The specific innovation for which Merck is being honored is Isentress, the first integrase inhibitor which boosts the immune system and suppresses HIV viral load with few adverse side-effects.
