COORDINATOR OF CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM - PUENTE PARA LA SALUD

The Coordinator for Puente Para La Salud (PPLS) will be responsible for the daily operations of the program. The overarching goal of the Puente para la Salud (PPLS) (“Bridge Access to Care”) project is to reduce disparities in health care access among Latino lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals, families and communities by increasing the capacity of health and human service (HHS) providers to provide services to Latino LGBT populations and by increasing public awareness of available services across New York City. The project will involve assessing the needs of the LGBT community and of the HHS provider community and subsequently providing training and coaching sessions based on the findings from the needs assessment. The program will also coordinate a city-wide forum and a social marketing campaign to heighten awareness around new services for and needs of the Latino LGBT community. The coordinator position will report directly to the Director of Research and Evaluation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate Capacity Building Assistance requests
  • Oversee program’s outreach, marketing and advertising campaign
  • Ensure evaluation activities are followed through
  • Coordinate community-wide forum
  • Conduct organizational assessments
  • Help develop and oversee curriculum
  • Supervise CBA specialist staff
  • Provide trainings to at least 30 service providers; trainings should be tailored to identified needs
  • Develop program protocols
  • Produce monthly reports
  • Produce end-of the year report

Requirements:

Strong candidates must be bilingual (English and Spanish); Must have 1 year minimum of experience in capacity building; have communication and writing skills in both languages; work well with others; possess the ability to work with diverse communities; and be able to effectively coordinate and organize community-wide forums. Candidates must be self-starters, able to multi-task; able to travel throughout the city; and create timelines and complete projects within those timelines. Familiarity with LGBT concerns and needs also preferred.
